Community Interest Company Of The Year – The MAD Hub

Orchard Shopping Centre has nominated The MAD Hub as their Community Interest Company of the year

Orchard Shopping Centre has nominated one of their in-centre businesses, The MAD Hub, as their Community Interest Company (CIC) of the year 2025/6.

As a CIC, The MAD Hub is designed to benefit our local community in Taunton and is open for people of all ages to get involved. They offer dance classes, fitness, and studio hire from the heart of Taunton. There is also a coffee shop on site, perfect to drop in for a chat and support.

  • To cultivate a thriving community hub in the centre of Taunton, providing a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds.
  • To combat isolation and loneliness by providing environments for friendships to flourish.
  • To ensure our activities are affordable for all participants.
  • To break down access barriers of all kinds, encouraging all dancers.
  • To curate our space to be available to those with varying access needs.

A bit about the CIC:

A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of limited company in the UK which benefits the community rather than private shareholders. It allows social enterprises to generate income whilst ensuring that the profits are reinvested to support their community objectives. They are not charities but can, if they wish, convert to become one.

How we are supporting The MAD Hub

 

Representatives from The MAD Hub will be frequent visitors on the mall at our events, putting on dance displays, and supporting our activities. They will also have mall space available for stand-alone fundraisers and performances. Some of our retailers will carry collection boxes for ‘loose change’ donations for their CIC.
