The Mad Hub taste success...

A blog post from Megan Rackham following the recent MAD Hub successes:

64 dancers travelled to Berkeley on 16th June 2024 to take part in the South West Qualifying competition with the IDTA.

It was a long but fun day, all dancers danced their socks off….. literally!

I set off at 7am with my family in tow, I had two children dancing with MAD so we went as a family with Daddy coming along to enjoy his Father’s day with the rest of the Dance Family! We arrived just after 8am (taking a couple of wrong turns and with 4 back seat drivers complaining about my driving!!)

I helped with ticketing to get everyone into the venue promptly, the atmosphere was buzzing we’d only had just over 6 weeks to prepare for the competition, due to partnership, team and quad changes and a venue move just to add to the mix!

The Competition started with Street Crews, we had entries in the 9 and under’s (Next Generation), 14-17 (Misfits), 36+ (BAD Formation) and Mixed (Anonymous) age categories. Sadly Anonymous didn’t qualify but they brought it with their sadistic Joker inspired Routine. I always try to think outside of the box and this was a routine completely unique to my normal stylings. The dancers brought it in every category and we cheered them through, before having to run out to get changed for the next category. We then went through motions of Solo’s, Duos and then Quads in Street. With quick costume changes between each section.

We had great results, with lots qualifying for Nationwide Finals as well as reserves.

We then moved on to the Freestyle Teams, with all the same teams as previously mentioned. They all danced so well and qualified, ready for Blackpool in November. We then moved onto Solos Fast, Slow, Duos Freestyle and finally Rock ‘N’ Roll. Again MAD dancers knocked it out of the park with their routines, the talent was incredible and I was blown away watching them all support each other from the sidelines and dance their hearts out on the floor.

We packed up around 5pm to make our way home after a very successful day competing, I got the short straw of driving home, whilst my lovely children bickered about was the best dancer of the day and my husband, mum and I analysed our day and how much all of the dancers had improved.

It was a great but long day out, congratulations to all dancers from The MAD Community CIC aka The MAD Hub.
